Brighten up the Work Environment

You are the sole worker in your home office, and you alone are responsible for completing all tasks that are either assigned to you, or you have accepted them from your clients. You also know then that it takes a lot of hard work to complete your jobs for achieving your objectives. There are, however, on some rare occasions, when your concentration tends to slack down and you feel like that you should be doing something else that cheers you up. There is a way to get out of this passing frustration.

Why not try to brighten up your office to make it a more interesting place to work and earn your livelihood?  When done in the right spirit, even the drabbest of tasks would become a little more interesting.

Monday to Friday, 9 to 5 daily routine are now being slowly relegated to history as numerous people are opting for working from home. No need to grab your breakfast quickly and rush through traffic to reach office on time. You can work in your home office wearing your pajamas! But do not overlook the flipside. Your employer will no longer pay for your health insurance. Also, the easy atmosphere of your home might spoil your professional work culture and tempt you to procrastinate and you may run the risk of being labeled a 'lazy bum' by friends and family. But a pleasant work environment would help you discarding that tag. In a well designed and cheerful work place you are likely to enjoy your work and get more done and, in the process, earn more money!
Your work environment should be pleasant, cheerful and well designed where you would enjoy your work that will stimulate you to work more. Your home office furniture should be lit well both for your health and productivity. Natural sunlight is a wonderful stimulant. If your home office space has plenty of windows, do not cover it up all with curtains or blinds. Let some sunlight penetrate through the windows. Show your preference for a place that allows plenty of natural light. Enhance the natural light source, if required, with more direct lighting. Your home office furniture must have task lighting, or desk lamps and floor lamps that can give concentrated lighting to any specific work area. And please make sure that the position of your computer screen prevents any glare from occurring. Your intention should be to create balanced lighting that minimizes eye strain.

Stimulating and positive colors like terracotta and yellow will brighten up your work space. Try not to use colors like gray. Give some personalized finishes to the room like a few art works on your walls and some family photographs on your desk. Fresh flowers from your garden or from neighborhood florist are also great.

Choose an area which is away from possible sources of noise. A peaceful environment is what you need to unleash your creativity. It is essential to get started in your home office by using the right tools of trade. Resist the temptation to splurge on unnecessary office décor in your home office furniture. Spend money on a good computer with efficient memory and performance, a fast Internet connection, workable desk and comfortable chairs. Prepare yourself to say good bye to your monotonous and cheerless downtown office. Start working from your sweet home.
